After taking this shot, Photo Journalist Kevin Carter sat down under a nearby tree, lit a cigarette, and sobbed. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for this photo,... and very shortly thereafter committed suicide.
I once heard that "If you are not crying, you are not paying attention." Hmmmm. Indeed, the world is very, very broken. But I resist and reject despair. There is hope and that hope lies within us, wanting to morph from hope into action, and from action into something good accomplished (however small it may seem).
