Send me

A large crowd surrounded Him.
I sat up in a tree to get a better view.
He concluded by asking: "Whom shall I send?"
(I had heard Him ask this question on other occasions,
but others spoke up and went forward
as I sat mute and passively observed.)
But this day was different.
Surprising myself, and not knowing from where the words came,
I spoke out boldly (and that made all the difference):
"I will go. Send me!"
As I did so, He smiled. It was clear that was all He really wanted of me:
A simple "yes,"... a surrender to His trustworthy call and leadership.
He will handle all the details and provide the power.
